I narrowed my choices down to two rigs: FTDX-101D (100W version) and IC-7610. The Yaesu has a better, more powerful receiver but I like the Icom's display and waterfall better. If I were looking to buy today, I certainly think the FT-710 would offer excellent value compared to either the FTDX-10 or the IC-7300. There have been several firmware updates with the FT-710 that have addressed initial release bugs and current pricing would make it a very tempting holiday gift for someone.
